The word “Reiki” (pronounced ray-key) comes from two Japanese words “Rei” (universal spiritual wisdom) and “Ki” (life force). The lineage I was trained in dates back over 200 years to Mikao Usui in Japan.

The practitioner acts as a riverbed for this
universal spiritually directed life force energy to flow through their hands.
Reiki is a type of energy healing.
Everything people experience physically and emotionally
in their lives is in the tissues of their bodies.
Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been
physical injury or even emotional pain.
In time, when untreated and not released, these energy
blocks or dis-ease from emotional issues become illnesses.
Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks similar to acupuncture/acupressure, and embodiment dance. By improving the flow of energy around the body you enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
Reiki enhances all forms of health care and so is often
used in combination with them.
There are no known contraindications.
Since Reiki is guided by higher intelligence, it knows exactly where to go
and how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki.
Breaking up the unconscious parts of mind/body Ki that contain
negative Ki that inhibits feelings and thoughts and eliminates
them to restore a positive healthy flow of Ki.
Thus, nourishing unhealthy physical tissues and organs allowing
them to function in a balanced and healthy way.
The effects of Reiki are restorative and rejuvenating. Reiki helps to heal every type of physical, emotional, and mental condition, including arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, migraine, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiac problems, cancer, brain trauma, cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression, and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) to name a few 😉.
